Detroit Lions add Vikings former DC to their staff
Teryl Austin may be a first-time defensive coordinator, but he’s certainly going to have some experienced positional coaches to lend him some advice if needed.
The Lions have hired former Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Alan Williams to be their new secondary coach.
Williams joins new linebackers coach Bill Sheridanas defensive position coaches under Austin who has previous defensive coordinator experience.
Williams and head coach Jim Caldwell worked together on Tony Dungy’s staff in Tampa Bay in 2001. Both followed Dungy over to Indianapolis where they worked together for the next decade, Williams as the secondary coach from 2002-11.
