Damond Talbot’s Small School Rankings **FINAL RANKINGS**

Not many are talking about Jeremy Butler from the University of Tennessee-Martin but the scouts continue to rave about him. They compare him to Anquan Boldin….

2nd Round

Jimmy Garoppolo – QB – Eastern Illinois – 6’3 – 212 – Jimmy Garoppolo could be one of the fastest risers in the NFL draft. He has Tony Romo like instincts and the kid can play. He has been hitting his players hard and his touchdown to interception ratio has been amazing.

Pierre Desir – CB – Lindenwood – 6’1, 205 – Desir had 60 tackles, with 9 interceptions and 9 pass break ups. Desir is a Washburn transfer with tons of upside. He has great mobility, and is a true ball hawk. I expect this kid to be a huge riser this year. Very mature for his age as well, which is a plus for NFL scouts.

3rd Round

Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota State – 6’6 -300 – 6’6 versatile lineman with tons of power, and range. I believe Turner has the potential to play both inside and outside. I like his heart, and passion for the game. That is impressive to me.

4th Round

Caraun Reid – DT- Princeton University – 6’2, 288 – Caraun could have been a fourth rounder if he came out this year, with another year under his belt, he could be a steal of this draft. He is only here for the time being, I believe his stock will rise.

Dakota Dozier, OG, Furman – 6’4 – 320 – I have always loved to find a sleeper guy that comes in right away and shines. Remember this name, Dakota is a very special/versatile lineman.

Jerick McKinnon – OW – Georgia Southern – 5’10 – 200 – McKinnon has moved up my boards. He is a true offensive weapon. The guy can play. I really feel that he can play at the next level. He plays QB, RB, WR, shoot he is their team.

5th Round

Terrence West – RB – Towson – 6’1 – 208 – Terrence West is only a Junior, but if this kid comes out he could go as high as the 3rd round. He is killing the FCS and will likely leave for the Draft.

Kadeem Edwards – G – Tennessee State – 6’4 – 313 – Kadeem is the best offensive lineman in the OVC. Last year the Tennessee State boys had a big time line and were able to run the ball successfully. They lost almost their entire line and are still successful. It is because big Kadeem.

Jeff Janis -WR – Saginaw Valley State – 6’3 – 215 – Jeff is the best wide receiver in this draft class. “White Lightning” is no joke, this kid ran a 4.3 forty at his junior pro day, STUPID FAST for a white boy.

Joe Don Duncan – TE – Dixie State – 6’6 – 265 – Joe Don Duncan is a freak who has had an amazing college career. He will get to highlight his skill at the Senior Bowl.

Jordan Tripp – OLB – Montana – 6’3-245 – Tripp runs well, I was told by his coaches they expect him in the 4.5s and that he has a great gym regimen. The Montana product would have a much more impressive resume if not for missing most of 2011 with an injury. Expect big things from the terror of Montana.

John Brown – WR – Pittsburg State – 5’10 – 190 – This is one of the fastest players in the draft.  Brown has had a rough childhood but boy the kid takes it out on the teams he plays against.  I am telling you this kid has talent.

Tim Flanders – RB – Sam Houston State – 5’9 – 205 – Tim is the most complete back for small schoolers. He is a faster Miguel Maysonet, this kid has been on the Walter Payton Award list consecutive years.

A.C. Leonard, TE, Tennessee State – 6’6 – 260 – A.C. was a former top 50 high school recruit and a former Florida Gator. He is very athletic and has great hands. Leonard has already signed an agent and declared for the NFL Draft.

6th Round

Matt Hazel, WR, Coastal Carolina – 6’3 – 190 – Matt Hazel has been tearing up his division for a while, but for whatever reason, he is not getting any credit. Well Matt, you have opened my eyes.

Jeff Matthews, QB, Cornell – 6’3 – 225 – Jeff is the best small school quarterback and he will look to take over for Freeman, since he has been struggling. This kid has a great release.

7th Round

Lawrence Virgil, DT, Valdosta State – 6’5 – 300 – This kid is a freak monster, I love his skills at the DT position. He is a true run stuffer and will get tons of looks from NFL scouts.

Larry Webster – DE – Bloomsburg – 6’6, 240 – Larry is an athletic freak of nature. Larry is a converted basketball center, who has great family genes. His father was a former NFL Standout for the Ravens.

Tyler Starr, OLB, South Dakota – 6’5 – 230 –This long haired Warrior reminds me of Clay Matthews. He is a force on the outside, has great size at 6’5 and hits with a “Thunder Stick”.

Kendall James, CB, Maine – 5’10 – 190 – He is flying up draft boards right now.  James is a very solid tackler, and has good ball skills.  He could be a guy that goes higher than this pick, but as of now this is a safe place for him.

Nic Jacobs, TE, McNeese State – 6’4 – 218 – Nic Jacobs has great hands is a former LSU transfer.  Do not be surprised to see him get drafted high because of his skill set. He was an All-American in high school.

Jeremy Butler, WR, Tennessee-Martin -6’3- 215 – This kid is under the radar right now. No one is talking about him, they are too busy talking about Erik Lora, but this kid should take the OVC over by storm this year.

Matt Feiler – OT – Bloomsburg – 6’7 – 325 – Matt is a kid that I am hearing about a lot from scouts. This kid could be the surprise player that not many know about. He is rising fast, Bloomsburg has two NFL prospects.

Zach Moore –DE – Concordia (St. Paul) – 6’5 – 278 – Moore is a small school player who could not be blocked. He had 14 sacks and 20 tackles for loss. Moore also had total of 41 tackles.

Matt Hall – OT – Belhaven University – 6’09 – 335 – Last year in his first complete year at OT for Belhaven he dominated. Matt was a transfer from Ole Miss, and is working wonders for the Belhaven O-Line. He does line up at right tackle, but this year expect major things for the Blazers Offense.

Ethan Westbrooks – DE – West Texas A&M – 6’4, 270 – Had an outstanding first season in a Buffalo uniform as he played in all 15 games with 14 starts on the defensive line. He had 60 total tackles with 29 solo stops and led the team and conference with 28 tackles for loss for 139 yards.

Qua Cox, CB, Jackson State -5’10- 185 – Qua is the most confident corner in this draft. He is the best corner on an island, and will be able to glove a super star wide out. Cox could become the NFL’s Future Pro Bowler.

Zach Kerr, DT, Delaware – 6’2 – 330 – This massive wall will shine in a 3-4 defense. He has a crazy motor for a big guy, and is an amazing person. Kerr could be one of the best defensive tackles in the draft.

Brandon Dixon -CB – Northwest Missouri 5’11 – 201 – This kid is very talented, both him and his brother lock opponents down for NW. I love this kids tenacity. He is tough and aggressive. He will be great at the next level

Lorenzo Taliferro – RB  – Coastal Carolina -6’1 – 215 – Taliferro is a very solid big back that has great mobility.  He is a very solid player with great hands out the backfield and a sound blocker.  A team will fall in love with Lorenzo’s size.  He has Eddie George size.

Keith Lewis – CB – Virginia Lynchburg – 5’11  – 190 – This kid has jumped the highest of any prospect through the entire draft process.  He performed his pro day in front of 12 teams, and was invited to another Pro Day where he killed the event.  He has had three pre-draft visits already and teams are now blowing up this kids lines. He is a deep sleeper but will be on a 90 man roster to start the season.

Carlos Fields – LB – Winston Salem State University – 6’2 – 249 – Carlos Fields is a very solid pass rusher, that can drop in coverage and cover extremely well.  Fields is a fast riser and will be a steal for a team in the NFL Draft.

Howard Jones – DE/OLB – Shepherd – 6’2 – 240 – Howard Jones had a good combine, and the small school pass rusher has landed on the big board for the first time of the year.  Jones has a good motor and looks lost in some cases on film, but always gets to the runner.

Kerry Wynn – DE – Richmond – 6’5 – 260 – Wynn had an awesome All-Star game at the East/West Shrine game.  He has decent moves, and is hard to block one on one.  I could see Wynn sneaking onto a team during the draft.
