Timothy Canady

What is your Height/Weight?

5’11 185.

What is your position?

WR/KR (Wide Receiver and Returner Specialist)

Where do you play college football?

West Virginia State University.

Where are you from?

Baltimore, Maryland.

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

Helping out and assisting the coaching staff in little league football with Baltimore’s very own TSA Hawks.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Business Law.

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my dad; Ronald Canady. I learned that hardwork towards any goal, on a daily basis can get you to where you want to be.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Basketball, Track & Field.

Did you play any other positions in football?

I’ve played corner back for two years at Thiel College before transferring to WVSU.

At your position, what separates you from others?

Aligned either on the outside or in the slot; SPEED is what separates me from others. I make my presence known with my SPEED.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I watch the defensive back’s every movement. Where are his eyes? Where is he aligned? Where did he move to? When is he able to be blocked? When does he convert to bail? How slow is his back pedal? Does he speed turn or step under himself? I look for anything to help my team WIN!

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

The toughest player I ever faced was William Johnson (#12 OU) Defensive back at Oklahoma University. Growing up as the most athletic in the neighborhood, the only way to get better was to compete in workouts and 1 on 1s.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Tavon Austin. Although I lack in height, I can be very explosive when the ball is in my hands. My speed, agility and quickness with the help of a few blocks can lead to several big plays. Every team needs at least one high energy player that can come in and get the job done.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

Transferring schools and taking a fall semester off from football was the hardest thing I’v ever done. Grinding and working out on a daily to stay in shape, along with maintaining a job is how I overcame it.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

Before the game I like to eat a big pancake breakfast, get a nice resistance band stretch, and run a few skinny post into the end zone with my QB Matt Kinnick (#3 WVSU).

As a small school football player what obstacles do you feel you have to overcome?

Here at a small school, nothing changes. Every one wants to win the conference, enter the playoffs and get a chance to win the school a championship.

What is your biggest strength?

SPEED!

What is your biggest weakness?

Height.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

Football is my everything and has still been giving me opportunities to live, travel and compete all over. Living without it has been my toughest individual battle. I want the game to forever be apart of my life.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

Growing up my favorite team to watch was the Baltimore Ravens with the classic Ray Lewis and Ed Reed duo.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

I would chose Ray Lewis, John Harbaugh (Head Coach of Baltimore Ravens) and Ozzie Newsome (GM of Baltimore Ravens).

What will be the first big item you buy once you are in the NFL?

A home for me and my family to live comfortably.
