NFL Draft Diamonds and our staff have been bringing our readers Prospect Interviews over the past 2 years and this year we mixed up the questions and added some fun questions for our readers. We have tons of NFL staff that read our interviews, and we actually received several of the questions from NFL scouts we speak too. This gives them a little bit more information regarding your character. We hope to bring you more than 300 interviews of NFL Draft Prospects this season. You will be able to track them all on the front page of our website in the banner.

What is your name?

Devon Price

What is your Height/Weight?

5’11, 185

What is your position?

WR/KR

Where do you play college football?

Ohio Northern University

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

At ONU we do a lot within our community to give back, the coolest thing I have done was help our team pastor at his church. He had a cookout for the church members and also community, it was fun hanging and doing activities with the younger kids.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Western Civilization 2

Where are you from?

Toledo, Ohio – (The Mud)

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my mom. She had me at an early age so growing up we didn’t have the best nor did she have the best job. With what little we had she did her best to give me anything possible. Together we have faced a lot of adversity but she taught me at an early age to never give up. I’ve seen her breaking her back to give my siblings and myself a better life so its all motivation when I’m training for the season.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

As a kid I played a little bit of baseball but as a kid I loved to play basketball and football, which I played throughout high school.

Did you play any other positions in football?

Growing up I was a running back, which helped develop my vision. In high school I played both sides of the ball. My freshmen year of college I was actually a cornerback before transferring to Ohio Northern to play WR.

At your position, what separates you from others?

I think my ability to read coverage/defenses makes things easier but my ability to run routes crispy is what separates me from the competition.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

Playing mostly in the slot I first look to see if the outside backers are aggressive, do they like to reroute? Then I look at the characteristics of the safeties is he a down hill safety, does he have good hips or ball skills; last I break down what are the characteristics of the secondary based on plays we run.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Myself; of course I’ve faced good defense backs but my motto “only I can stop me” because if I work hard and prepare myself in the film room then I’m setting my team and myself up for success.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

I compare myself to Tavon Austin, he is a quick and has a great first step after catching the ball.

devonWhat was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

Biggest obstacle in life was having being young and having my son while in college. Recently a huge obstacle was last March. I tore my ACL 6 months before my senior season. There were a lot of questions would I be allowed to play this past season but I promised my family and teammates I would do everything possible to make it back in time for the season. After a long summer spent rehabbing my knee I was cleared a week before the opening game of the season. I helped lead my team to the second round of the playoffs and I had career highs in all my stats just 7 months after surgery.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I do have a pre-game ritual. My ritual is to shake ALL my teammates hand, wishing him good luck and telling them I love them no matter the outcome. I then hug my entire lineman, as they are the gates to the end zone telling them the same thing.

As a small school football player what obstacles do you feel you have to overcome?

The biggest obstacle is showing I can compete at the next level. It’s a task I’m ready to prove.

What is your biggest strength?

Route running/separation from defender

What is your biggest weakness?

Jump ball ability

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

Thank you for taking the time to talk to me, if you give me an opportunity it will not be a mistake. My ability to get open is what separates me from the rest. I will bust my ass 24/7, 365 to better your franchise. I’m very smart both on and off the field, I understand the terminology is a lot different then in college but my knowledge for the game will help my transition. You don’t have to worry about any off the field issues, as I have not been in trouble in college or with the law. My goal is to help the franchise win games any way possible and to provide a better life for my son.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

Chad Johnson, his footwork and routes were crazy to watch! Even though I favored Johnson my team is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

  • My grandpa who passed away
  • Floyd Mayweather
  • Allen Iverson

What will be the first big item you buy once you are in the NFL?

Not sure what I would buy but I know one of the first things I would do is put money into a trust fund for my son.
