Is Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray a top 10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft?

The NFL Draft is approaching soon and the talk of the Draft is going to be Kyler Murray the short, but strong-armed quarterback from Oklahoma. Many see Kyler Murray as a first-round draft pick but with how the NFL views quarterbacks I want to know could Kyler Murray end up being a top 10 pick?

Kyler Murray announced Monday he was “fully committing” to playing football professionally. Last season, Baker Mayfield was phenomenal as a rookie after critics tried to say he was not a top ten pick.

Baker Mayfield’s replacement in Lincoln Riley’s offense at Oklahoma happens to be Kyler Murray. Murray was just about as prolific as the 2018 first overall pick, completing 260 passes in 377 attempts for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions to Mayfield’s 285 completions in 404 attempts for 4,627 yards, 43 touchdowns, and six picks. If you add in Murray’s 1,001 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on just 140 carries, and we’re dealing with a serious offensive weapon here.

Murray had signed a minor league contract with a $4.66 million signing bonus. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Murray will return $1.29 million of the $1.5 million in signing bonus he has already received from the A’s. He forfeits the remaining $3.16 million due on March 1. The A’s will retain Murray’s rights by putting him on the restricted list. This is a ton of money to walk away from.

As long as Murray is a first-round pick, he is significantly better off initially from a financial standpoint than playing baseball. The last pick in the first round’s entire deal will be more than double Murray’s signing bonus from the A’s. The guaranteed money as the last first-round pick is expected to be almost 85 percent more than the A’s signing bonus. The signing bonus for this pick should be around $725,000 more than with baseball, according to Joel Corey a former Sports Agent.

If you are betting at 888 Sport USA, the over/under bar is set for Murray getting selected before the 7th pick.

I have been looking around the prop bets on the internet and this bet makes it very interesting to me. Being a Bills fan whose team sits at 9, it is a great opportunity if a team jumps from the top 15spot or higher to move into the top 10 to draft Murray. After yesterday’s trade for Joe Flacco, I would like to believe that the Broncos are out of the mix for QB early. This leaves the Giants, Dolphins, Jaguars, and Redskins at the top of my list for Murray’s services.

So I want to know do you think he will be selected before pick 10? There is only one quarterback in the NFL under 6 foot that is starting and that is Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and he is 5 ft 10 5/8 inches.  I am not sure if Kyler Murray will be as successful as Russell Wilson but they both have similar backgrounds. Both were baseball players, and both have great mechanics.  The only knock is their size.  You cannot question the heart of either, but will an NFL team in the top 10 be willing to roll the dice on a short quarterback like Murray?
