Mississippi HS Football Player Jadarius Jenkins Killed in Shooting
The Hollandale, Mississippi, community is mourning the tragic death of 17-year-old Jadarius Jenkins, a high school student-athlete who was shot and killed over the weekend.
According to Hollandale Police Chief Johnny Spand, officers responded to a shots-fired call near Roosevelt Street at approximately 10:47 p.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived, they discovered Jenkins suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Jenkins was a senior at Simmons High School and was a multi-sport athlete. He played both football and basketball and also competed in track and field.
His death has left his family, teammates, coaches, classmates and the Hollandale community grieving the loss of a young man with a promising future.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Chief Spand said investigators have identified several people of interest as they work to determine what led to the deadly incident.
