Former Kentucky HS Football Player Killed in Lexington Hit-and-Run

A former Holy Cross student and football player was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Chance Lee Martin, 19, of Crescent Springs.
According to Martin’s father, Michael Martin, Chance had traveled to Lexington with friends on Friday to attend a football game scheduled for Saturday. Chance texted his father after arriving to let him know he had made it safely.
However, Michael Martin said he did not hear from his son afterward.
Around 7 a.m. Sunday, a police officer arrived at the family’s home and informed Michael Martin that Chance had been involved in an incident. He was instructed to contact the sheriff’s office and coroner.
Authorities say Chance Martin was walking along East High Street at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver fled the scene and, as of the latest available information, had not been located.
The investigation into the fatal hit-and-run remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the vehicle or driver to contact investigators.
