The Wamego School District confirmed Higgins’ death Monday, following the tragic accident near Wamego.
According to Pottawatomie County Sheriff Doug Adams, the crash occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Old Post Road and Genn Road, northeast of Wamego.
Emergency crews responding to the scene found three people who had been traveling in the UTV. Higgins, who was a passenger, had been ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the driver as 18-year-old Harry Costa of Wamego. Costa was reportedly not injured in the crash.
