Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s family is dealing with a tragic situation after his wife, Mia Bieniemy, was reportedly shot at the couple’s Virginia home on Sunday night.

According to ESPN, Mia Bieniemy, 57, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office confirmed deputies responded to the residence at approximately 7:32 p.m. ET after reports of a shooting. Authorities said an adult female was found with multiple gunshot wounds but did not initially identify the victim. ESPN later reported Mia was struck in the arm and chest.

Police arrested the couple’s son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, in connection with the incident. He has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling. Elijah was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

The Kansas City Chiefs acknowledged they were aware of the incident involving Bieniemy’s family but declined further comment. Head coach Andy Reid addressed the situation on Monday, saying Mia is in stable condition. Reid also confirmed that Eric Bieniemy’s other son, Eric Jr., is safe.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
