What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
Growing up I always loved watching football and it just looked so cool to be apart of the game of football and I was always one of those kids who would always wanted to play catch where ever I would go and as I got older I began to notice that football, this is what I want to do.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My favorite moment from my football like is being the player that has a role or ability that everyone knows. Being able to be apart of a team of brothers and just playing for them and building that close relationship with each other. My last favorite moment was getting advice and leadership from an NFL player Tyreek Hill while he stated that I can really be a good wide receiver it gave me motivation.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mom inspires me the most and the reason for that is because she has done a lot for me has also stayed positive whenever things with football didn’t go right for me saying that “everything happens for reasons “ and also that God has better plans for me. She doesn’t give up on me.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
I love the effect that the game of football has with life because football is like therapy for me. Whenever I am around football and my teammates and going to practices it’s like home and it’s like a place to let go all the negativity and the stressful moments and just playing football let’s all that go.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
It would be wide receiver Justin Jefferson just based of how he carries himself and his play style in the game of football. I feel like I would learn a lot from him and would be fun to hangout with him.
What are your favorite things about playing football for Graceland?
My favorite things about playing at Graceland is the bond that I have with the team and just the atmosphere there. It feels very safe there, the players and the coaches are very comfortable to be around and I also like playing and lifting guys up to be better and to always enjoying putting in the work in the weight room and field.
What should we know about Donyell Dye the person?
I am a very chill and relaxed person that stays out of trouble and is always willing to take the safer route. I like to be consistent in what I do and love to strive for as many goals as possible. If anyone needs help with anything I can be the person to ask for advice.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
My favorite offensive scheme is definitely is the spread option just because it gets the defense going in different directions not knowing where to cover and it is confusing to them as well and it also gives a wide receiver like me a good opportunity to find open windows to receive the ball and that’s a another good way I can use my speed as well.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
The way I handle challenges in both life and football is whenever I am struggling to complete something I know in order to do that I have to keep doing the same thing over and over again until I master that or if there’s a situation that I’m dealing with that’s bad I will seek help and get that figured out.
What would a team get in a player like you?
They would get a very die hard player who is willing to work no matter what conditions. I’m a player who shows up to every practice and never misses and is always there to lift players up to become a better person on the field.
What stands out about your film the most?
The thing that stands out most about my film is my speed and the way I use it. I am always able to beat defensive backs by many yards and my technique on beating defensive backs on deep routes as well to get open and score touchdowns. I am very consistent at that.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
The most underrated player I have with was wide receiver Gerald Monroe. I say him because he has done things that I would see professional wide receivers do and the ways he runs his routes catches the ball and react off of defensive backs is very impressive. He’s definitely one of those guys who I would look at and be like yes he should be here.
