Chiefs football coach arrested the day before the NFL Draft on domestic battery charges

Dave Merritt, the defensive backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, was arrested in Kansas just hours before the start of the NFL Draft, according to local authorities.
Records from the Johnson County jail indicate that Merritt was booked on Wednesday on a charge of domestic battery. A complaint filed by prosecutors alleges that he “unlawfully, knowingly, or recklessly” caused bodily harm to a family member.
Merritt is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Thursday, where he will face one misdemeanor count of domestic battery involving alleged knowing or reckless harm to a family member.
As of now, officials have not released additional details regarding the incident or the circumstances surrounding the allegations.
