Is Jordan Love the Most Overrated Quarterback in the NFL?

Is Jordan Love the Most Overrated Quarterback in the NFL?

When Jordan Love arrived at the Green Bay Packers in 2020, he was drafted as the backup to Aaron Rodgers. That was the case for three years having been the 26th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. Love waited patiently and was rewarded by being named as the starting quarterback for the Packers in 2023. Following in the footsteps of one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time was always going to be tough but is it fair to suggest Love is the most overrated quarterback in the NFL?

Green Bay Packers Recent Record

If we look at the recent record of the Green Bay Packers, results have dropped in recent seasons. Between 2019 and 2021, the Packers finished first in the NFC North, twice with a 13-3 record and once with a 13-4 record. They twice reached the NFC Championship game, only to lose to San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In two of those three seasons, Rodgers, the packers starting quarterback, was named as the MVP. Rodgers has four MVP awards to his name and was named MVP in 2010 when leading the Packers to Super Bowl XLV success.

The same success seems a long way off for the Packers right now and, at the time of writing, they have a 5–3–1 record with Love as first choice quarterback. The Packers still have a chance of reaching the playoffs and you can use a BetMGM bonus code to back them at good odds to win the Super Bowl this season. However, the start this season is their worst since the 3–6 in 2023, which was Love’s first season as starting quarterback.

Packers Believe in Love

Despite the fact some onlookers are calling Love’s ability into question, the Packers clearly believe he is the man to take them forward. The Packers agreed a $220 million, four-year contract with Love last summer and they would not have chosen to invest that amount of money in the player if they had any doubts over his ability.

There is still time this season for Love to come good and propel the Packers up the NFC Conference. However, doubts are beginning to creep in and Love has yet to match the 13 wins achieved by the Packers in each of the previous three seasons before he was named quarterback. Love’s most recent performance at the time of writing, which was a 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, led to criticism and the Packers offense was poor.

Anyone More Overrated than Love?

Is there any NFL quarterback who is more overrated then Love? Some fans believe Lamar Jackson is one of the most overrated quarterbacks of all time and so the Baltimore Ravens man must be in the mix as the most overrated active quarterbacks.

There is nothing wrong with Jackson’s regular season record and his winning percentage is one of the best of all time. So, why does his name often crop up when discussing the most overrated quarterback in the NFL? Jackson has yet to play in the Super Bowl, has a 3-5 playoff record, and a .375 postseason winning percentage. When analysing other multiple MVPs, that postseason percentage is by far the worst and Jackson could remain the most overrated quarterback in the game until he reaches the Super Bowl.
