Pennsylvania High School Football Coach Dies after Collapsing at the Game

The Pennsylvania High School District community is grieving the loss of longtime educator and coach Ron Todd, who passed away Friday night after collapsing in the stands during the varsity football game.
Emergency crews were called to Washington High School Stadium around 6:45 p.m., according to Washington County 911. Todd was transported to UPMC Washington, where he was later pronounced dead.
Todd was a dedicated member of the district, teaching special education at Washington Junior High School and serving in multiple coaching roles. He led the junior high football team, worked as an assistant coach for varsity baseball, and also coached bocce for special needs students.
The district will have grief counselors available Monday morning at Washington Junior-Senior High School and Washington Park Elementary/Intermediate School to meet with students individually or in groups.
