What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
Football became a part of me at a young age. I’ve always loved the grind, the competition, and the chance to go out there and prove myself. It gave me purpose and helped me build discipline, confidence, and drive. I’ve seen football as a way out being from the north side of St. Louis, by playing football it has got me a full ride to college, and a college degree.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
One of my favorite moments was winning the Super Bowl in little league. That feeling of holding the trophy with my teammates and knowing all the hard work paid off, that’s something I’ll never forget.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
Definitely my mom and dad. They’re the hardest working people I know. Seeing them push through everything life throws at them and still show up for me and my goals, it pushes me to go even harder.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
I’m locked in and ready to make a statement. I’m looking forward to proving myself every snap, putting more sacks on the board, and showing I’m one of the most dominant edge rushers out there.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d say Aaron Donald. His IQ, his technique, and the way he breaks down the game, he’s one of the greats. I’d want to learn everything I can from him and just pick his brain about pass rushing.
What are your favorite things about playing football for Lindenwood?
Playing for Lindenwood means a lot. I’m close to home, so I have my support system nearby in St. Louis. Plus, I get to represent where I’m from while playing the game I love at a high level, and even though I could of left and went anywhere but I chose not to because I wanted to finish what I started.
What should we know about Kobe McClendon the person?
I’m more than just a football player. I’m a grinder, a loyal teammate, and someone who takes pride in doing things the right way. I stay humble, I stay focused, and I let my work speak.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
I like attacking out of a 4-3 front where I can stand up and rush off the edge. Anything that lets me use my length and explosion to set the edge or collapse the pocket, I’m all in.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I handle them head-on. I stay composed, lean on my faith, and remind myself why I started. Whether it’s a tough game or something off the field, I keep pushing forward.
What would a team get in a player like you?
They’re getting a dawg. Somebody who’s coachable, consistent, and always going to give 100%. I study film, I prepare the right way, and I show up in the biggest moments.
What stands out about your film the most?
What stands out is how I’m always in the right place. Whether it’s run fits, setting the edge, or getting to the quarterback, I know my assignment and I execute it. I take pride in being dependable on every snap.
