Former NFL Superstar Antonio Brown is wanted by Miami Police on Attempted Murder Charges
Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is now facing serious legal trouble after an arrest warrant was issued in Miami-Dade County for attempted murder with a firearm. The charge stems from a violent altercation at a celebrity boxing event last month in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami.
According to a report by The Washington Post, the incident occurred shortly after midnight on May 16. Brown allegedly punched a man during the event, then grabbed a security guard’s firearm and fired two shots while chasing the individual. One of the bullets reportedly grazed the man’s neck.
Miami police initially detained Brown on the night of the incident but released him just hours later. Authorities were alerted to the situation after receiving a gunshot notification through the ShotSpotter detection system around 3 a.m. on May 16.
The boxing event was reportedly hosted by popular streamer Adin Ross. The warrant, which has been signed by a judge, requires Brown to post a $10,000 bond and remain under house arrest until his trial.
Brown, 36, took to social media following the incident, claiming he was attacked by multiple individuals who attempted to steal his jewelry. He stated that he was acting in self-defense and said he planned to speak with his legal team about pressing charges against those involved.
Videos circulating on social media appear to show Brown involved in a physical altercation with several men. In the footage, he is seen holding what looks like a black pistol while pursuing someone. Gunshots can be heard in the background shortly after.
As of now, Antonio Brown is wanted by Miami-Dade police and remains at large.
