Virginia High School Football Coach Arrested for Soliciting Minors

A Kettle Run High School assistant football coach and teacher has been arrested and was charged Monday with a felony for soliciting nude images from minors and adults via Snapchat.

Bobby Hix, 28, of Remington, is currently being held without bail at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center following his arrest related to inappropriate conduct with students, according to a press release issued Monday morning by Fauquier County and the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office.

Hix had been placed on administrative leave in early March after the sheriff’s office alerted Fauquier County Public Schools to allegations involving an employee at Kettle Run High School. Following a comprehensive investigation—including multiple interviews and the examination of electronic devices and social media accounts—detectives concluded that Hix used Snapchat to solicit explicit images from both minors and adults who were students and football players under his supervision.

As a result, Hix has been charged under Virginia Code §18.2-374.3(D) for using a communications system to facilitate certain offenses involving children. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.

Hix, a former Kettle Run student and 2015 graduate who returned to coach the defensive line, is also accused of engaging in “grooming” behavior. According to law enforcement, this included building trust with minors, isolating them from others, offering gifts, sharing personal secrets, and making them feel uniquely valued. Such actions are commonly used to manipulate and normalize inappropriate interactions between adults and minors.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
