Player Summary:
RS senior who was raised in Louisville, KY before moving to Bradenton, FL. Transferred to OSU from South Carolina prior to the 2021 season. Wore #5 in 2022, wears #1 in 2023. Not a regular starter at Oregon State, but rotates with several other backs. Dense, muscular frame. Thick uppers and lowers. Knobby calves. Above-average burst, but lacks long speed to break away from defenders. Adequate vision, does a good job of reading and following blockers. One cut runner who sticks his foot in the ground and commits to a lane. Does not take losses or reverse field, powers forward and minimizes the opportunity to lose yardage. Decently twitchy. Impressive lateral movement skills and wiggle in the running lane. Strong enough to fight through arm tacklers. Excellent use of a stiff arm to push off defenders. Adequate contact balance. Aggressive on contact, lowers his shoulder and punishes defenders. Struggles to high step through slop and traffic, can get tripped up in the box, Falls forward when tackled. Protects the football incredibly well. Has one career fumble and even that was a perfectly placed punch on the ball. Route running is above the line. Not diverse in his routes, but shows fluid hips and good feet in his routes. No catches in any games watched-will need further evaluation at the end of the season with additional film. Capable pass blocker. Active eyes, identifies and engages rushing defenders well. Dips his head on contact in a way that can get him hurt. Best game – UF, worst game – UW
Scheme Fit:
Fenwick would fit best in a zone-blocking scheme that allows him to make one cut and accelerate through open holes
Power Statement:
Fenwick is a well-rounded back with power, quickness, and vision who I think will play in the NFL. However, he lacks elite traits and is substantially older than most draft picks at his position, so I have a hard time seeing him drafted prior to day 3. I would expect him to be selected around the 6th round.
