Mike Evans Injury Update: How Serious Is the Rib/Oblique Injury?
Mike Evans left the 49ers’ Week 3 win over Arizona after taking a hit and later experiencing significant pain around his right ribs/oblique area. He was carted to the locker room and ruled out with a rib/oblique injury.
Dr. Jesse Morse initially pointed out that the presentation was concerning because the possibilities included a rib fracture, potential lung/organ injury, oblique strain, or another abdominal issue. He specifically noted that the fact Evans required a cart made the situation worth monitoring closely.
The encouraging update: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Evans is considered day-to-day following further evaluation. That suggests the initial concern has not, at this point, translated into a confirmed major injury or a long-term absence.
