Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen arrested on OWI charges
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested early Sunday morning in downtown Indianapolis and is facing misdemeanor charges related to operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
According to a public police report, the 34-year-old veteran receiver was taken into custody around 1 a.m. after Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers conducted a traffic investigation in the 100 block of South Meridian Street.
Police said the investigation began after officers noticed a vehicle parked in a designated no-parking zone.
During the interaction, officers reportedly observed signs that Allen was intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Marion County Adult Detention Center, where jail records show he was booked.
Allen was preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with an alcohol concentration of .08 or greater and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing endangerment.
The two preliminary charges are classified as a Class C misdemeanor and a Class A misdemeanor, respectively.
Allen, who has enjoyed a lengthy NFL career, joined the Colts after spending the majority of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers. The veteran receiver remains one of the more experienced players on Indianapolis’ roster.
The charges are allegations, and Allen is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The Colts have not yet announced any disciplinary action related to the arrest.
