Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo arrested on suspicion of OWI
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS NFL analyst Tony Romo was arrested Thursday in Wisconsin on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Romo was stopped while driving south on Interstate 43. Deputies reported that he performed poorly on field sobriety tests before being taken into custody. He was later booked and released.
Romo is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 21 in connection with the incident.
A native of Burlington, Wisconsin, located roughly 35 miles southwest of Milwaukee, Romo starred at Burlington High School before going on to a successful NFL career.
CBS, where Romo has served as the network’s lead NFL game analyst since 2017, declined to comment on the arrest.
The 46-year-old spent his entire 13-year NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys from 2004 to 2016, earning four Pro Bowl selections. Romo remains the franchise’s all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 248 and held the Cowboys’ career passing yards record with 34,183 until Dak Prescott surpassed the mark last season.
