The biggest winners from the 2026 NFL Draft

The NFL draft is now in the rearview mirror, and while we endure the long wait for the beginning of the NFL season, let’s look back at the draft itself. In April, 257 players were drafted into NFL teams over 7 rounds.
While it usually takes years for teams and fans to understand whether draft night was a success or a failure for a team, a handful of teams emerged as the real winners of the draft, who may have set themselves on the path to real success after a successful night. Let’s look at the biggest winners from the 2026 NFL Draft.
Winners from the 2026 NFL draft
New York Jets
The obvious stand-out team from the draft. The New York Jets came into the draft in an interesting position, and they had a war chest of draft picks to pick through the holes in their roster. They ended up selecting 8 players, selecting plenty of premium positions.
Their #2 pick shocked many pundits when they selected Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey over the consensus #1 edge in Arvell Reese, but Bailey instantly levels up the New York Jets defense. They also drafted the best TE in the draft with Kenyon Sadiq and WR Omar Cooper Jr. in the first round, and added an array of solid lower-round picks. If anyone won the draft, it was the Jets.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are starting to shift into rebuild mode. With questions on the future of Travis Kelce and the injury problems with Patrick Mahomes, they needed a good draft to settle the nerves in their fanbase. With their first pick, #6 in the first round, they took the best cornerback on the board in Mansoor Delane from LSU, and nerves began to be settled.
The Chiefs, as expected, spent the draft picking up solid and assured talents, and then took one bigger swing with their final pick, taking LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier, a risk considering his injury record. Overall, a very efficient and clean draft.
Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns traded down in the first round, still picked up the player they were looking for in OT Spencer Fano from Utah at pick #9, and got a haul of picks in return. Could it have possibly gone better for the Browns?
The Browns made 5 picks inside the top 100, all of which are perceived as solid pick-ups, including snatching safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick #58, way after he was billed to come off most mock boards. An efficient draft that may well pay dividends in the years to come.
