Colby Taylor, OLB, West Florida | 2026 NFL Draft Prospect Zoom Interview

Colby Taylor is a high-motor, versatile defender from West Florida who blends strength, athleticism, and football intelligence to impact the game in multiple ways. He showcases very good short-area quickness, explosive acceleration, and natural bend off the edge, allowing him to generate pressure through both burst and relentless effort. Taylor demonstrates a strong feel for pursuit angles, consistently locates the football, playing with good discipline and awareness. After beginning his career at Newberry College, he continued to refine his skill set and expand his experience across the front seven at West Florida. This versatility is a major asset, as he can align on the edge, operate off the ball, drop into coverage against running backs and tight ends, and even take reps in the middle of the defense.

Against the run, Taylor excels with his strength and physicality at the point of attack, routinely overpowering blockers and still producing in the backfield despite being double teamed. He sets the edge with authority, sheds blocks efficiently, and leverages his motor and instincts to create tackles for loss. His elite athleticism was evident at his Pro Day, where he posted a 4.56 40-yard dash, 30 bench reps, a 39-inch vertical, and a 10’7” broad jump. This combination of physical tools, positional flexibility, and raw explosiveness gives him the profile of a high-upside prospect capable of carving out a role as a hybrid defender and core special teams contributor at the next level.
