What is your favorite workout or drill and why?
My favorite drill is the cone and change-of-direction work, especially the 5-10-5 shuttle. It brings out everything that defines my style, balance, burst, and control. I like anything that forces me to stay low, redirect, and accelerate again. That’s where running backs separate themselves, in that split second between patience and explosion.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player in the next 3 years?
In the next three years, I want to be established on a professional roster and making an impact. My focus is on being consistent a back who can move the chains, catch out of the backfield, and handle my business on special teams.
I’m also really eager to get a shot with the Arizona Rattlers, so my kids have a chance to watch me play professionally at home. While I’m willing to play anywhere, it would mean a lot to have that opportunity close to them. Even just a chance to showcase in a practice or workout would be special — I know I’d make the most of it.
What is one thing scouts should see about your game and why?
Scouts should see how efficient my game is. I don’t waste steps or motion, I run behind my pads, finish runs, and stay disciplined with my reads. I play with control, physicality, and purpose. I’m the type of back that keeps an offense on schedule and wears a defense down over four quarters.
What does a normal day look like for Ross Robertson?
My day starts with prayer and recovery, then I hit film and training before I head to work. I work overnight, so I build my routine around consistency, lifting, field work, and conditioning are all planned out. I don’t waste days. I balance football, work, and family, and that discipline keeps me grounded. Every day is about getting 1% better, no matter what’s on my schedule.
Which current or former NFL coach would you want to learn from the most and why?
Mike Tomlin. His consistency and leadership speak for themselves. He’s a coach who knows how to connect with players and still hold them accountable. I respect how he builds a culture where everyone buys in. I feel like I’d thrive under that kind of structure because I’ve always been a player who values discipline and respect.
What was your favorite experience from the last team you were on?
Playing with the Phoenix Phantoms ( AAAFL) reminded me how much I love the grind. Everyone there was chasing the same goal with no shortcuts. My favorite experience was earning my teammates’ respect through work ethic. We built a brotherhood through that grind, and that kind of chemistry brings out your best football.
Which one of your former teammates deserves a chance and why?
Brandon Cole. He played corner with me for the SoCal Coyotes, and we were also teammates at Arizona Christian University. Brandon helped me see football through a different lens, the way a DB studies routes, leverage, and body language. That perspective changed how I read defenses and how I attack space as a running back. He’s a true student of the game and one of the most mentally sharp teammates I’ve ever had. He absolutely deserves another opportunity.
What makes you an intriguing player that deserves to be signed?
What makes me intriguing is my maturity, consistency, and hunger. I bring production, but I also bring leadership and accountability. I’ve balanced working overnight, training, and raising a family, and still show up locked in. I’m physical, dependable, and built for every down. I’m not chasing hype, I’m chasing opportunity. Once I get that chance, I’m not letting go of it.
