Pennsylvania Youth Football Coach Shot and Killed

Brandon Smith was a very loved youth football coach in Pennsylvania. The 45-year-old coach had a way of teaching kids and helping them love the game.
Unfortunately, Smith of West Middlesex, Pa., was shot outside of Yank’s Place on Idaho Avenue in Farrell, Pa. early Sunday morning. He later died at a local hospital.
Michael A. Cox Jr. of New Castle was arrested in connection with the shooting.
His charges include criminal homicide and aggravated assault.
Farrell Area School District Superintendent Dr. Lora Adams-King said earlier this week in a statement that Brandon Smith attended Farrell Area High School, was a community member and a “beloved coach.”
“It is with profound regret and sorrow that the Farrell Area School District acknowledges the passing of alumnus, community member, and beloved coach, Brandon Smith, Our grief is compounded by the senseless, violent manner in which Coach Smith was snatched away from us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his mother, children, family, friends, and the students and community that he loved and served.
According to police, a woman said that she saw Michael A. Cox Jr. and Brandon Smith arguing at Yank’s Place before they had to be separated.
The woman then reportedly said she tried to get Cox to leave the bar with her and was driving him away when he started shooting out of the passenger side window.
Cox has since turned himself into police.
Brandon was deeply involved in the community, where he made a remarkable impact as the Head Coach for the Farrell youth programs. His nurturing spirit, love, and guidance inspired countless young athletes, mentoring a generation and instilling a sense of purpose and fun in their lives. His jovial and fun-loving nature gave hope, confidence and security to the lives he was entrusted to guide. Please pray for his family.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy in his children: Brandon Smith Chambers, Kailynn Satterwhite, Jhailyn Richardson, Tahjmere Gibson, Kabron Smith, Tyerra Hopson, Lamir Smith, Laila Smith, Sheldon Smith, Braydon Smith, Ozias Smith, and Mohini Smith.
