Free Agent Portal Spotlight: Keyshawn Cunningham, Defensive Back

Free Agent Portal Spotlight: Keyshawn Cunningham, Defensive Back

What is your favorite workout or drill and why?

My favorite drill is footwork and change-of-direction work, especially DB-specific drills. I enjoy them because they sharpen the small details of my game-hips, balance, and reaction speed. As a defensive back, those details separate a good player from a great one.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player in the next three years?

Over the next 3 years, I want to establish myself as a reliable playmaker at the professional level. My goal is to keep elevating my game, earn respect through consistency, and put myself in a position to make a long career out of football.

What is one thing scouts should see about your game and why?

Scouts should see my versatility. I can cover, I can tackle, and I bring physicality and IQ to the game. I take pride in being able to adjust to different schemes and situations, and I think that makes me valuable on any roster. It’s all on the tape!

What does a normal day look like for Keyshawn Cunningham?

A normal day starts with some light movement or stretching before my training session. I spend a good amount of time working on my craft, whether it’s field work, strength training, or recovery. After that, I focus on film study, learning, and making sure my body and mind are right for the next day.

Which current or former NFL coach would you want to learn from the most and why?

I’ll say Mike Tomlin. He’s built some of the toughest defenses in the league and knows how to develop defensive backs. His ability to lead and connect with players makes him someone I’d want to learn from.

What was your favorite experience from the last team you were on?

My favorite experience was the bond we built as a unit. Competing together, pushing each other, and celebrating wins as a team made the grind worthwhile. The locker room moments and the lessons we took from challenges are what stuck with me most.

Which one of your former teammates deserves a chance and why?

I’d say Easton St.Clair. He’s one of the hardest workers I’ve been around, and he brings the same intensity every day, whether it’s practice or game time. He deserves a shot because of his work ethic and the way he impacts a team beyond just talent.

What makes you an intriguing player that deserves to be signed?

I bring a combination of physical tools, technique, and mentality. I’m coachable, I adapt quickly, and I play with a chip on my shoulder. What makes me stand out is that I don’t just rely on athleticism. I study, prepare, and compete in a way that raises the standard for the guys around me.
