Florida State Freshman Football Player in Critical Condition after being Shot

A Florida State University football player is recovering in the hospital after being shot Sunday night near Tallahassee, school officials confirmed.
The incident took place around 10 p.m. on 16th Avenue near the Havana Heights Apartments, according to the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responding to a shooting call discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
FSU officials later identified the victim as freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard. He remains in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit. Authorities said Pritchard was visiting family in Havana, Florida, when the shooting occurred.
Pritchard, a former four-star recruit out of Seminole High School in Sanford, was a standout defender who helped guide his team to a 10-2 record and a second straight regional final in 2024 before committing to the Seminoles.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the shooting. Officials are urging anyone with information to contact FDLE or Investigator DeLeon at 850-627-9233.
