Kennesaw State University Owls

Head Coach: Jerry Mack – At School and Overall: 1st Year

OC : Mitch Militello; DC: Marc Mattioli

2024 Record: 2-10 (2-6)

Impact Players: QB Dexter Williams, WR Christian Moss, WR Davis Bryson, WR Gabriel Benyard, DE Tylon Dunlap, LB Garland Benyard, LB Juandarion Silas, LB Donelius Johnson, CB JeRico Washington, S Milon Jones, S Isaac Paul, CB Tyler Hallum

Offense:

The 2025 Kennesaw St Owls offense will feature a mix of returning reserve players ready to take on a starting role and transfers looking to make an immediate impact. One of those transfers is QB Dexter Williams, who looks poised to win the starting job over competitors Amari Odum and Skylar Williams. Williams comes to Kennesaw from Georgia Southern and will have the benefit of a starting o-line with ample experience. Returning receivers Tykeem Wallace, Christian Moss, and Gabriel Benyard should give the Owls decent skill on the outside. Running back depth and skill is a concern.

Defense:

The secondary for the Owls should be one of the best in the league. All-Conference CB JeRico Washington will be paired with returner Tyler Hallum at corner. Also returning in the secondary are safeties Issac Paul and Milon Jones. The Owls also get a boost with returning tackle leader LB Donelius Johnson and starting LB Garland Benyard. Up front is more of a concern. DE Tylon Dunlap is back but will be paired with a few transfers and players coming back from injuries in ‘24. The defense is definitely a strength for Kennesaw and should be leaned on early while the offense starts to work itself out.

Analysis:

The first year in the FBS was a rough one for the Owls, but it did have a few bright spots including a stunning 27-24 win over presumed conference favorite Liberty. 2025 will again be a rebuilding year for the program as new HC Jerry Mack takes over. The mix of transfer talent and returning production is a promising sign but expectations should be tempered. An improvement over last season’s 2-10 record should be the goal.
