Oldest College Football Player to Ever Play the Game was Arrested for Sexual Assault
Ray Ruschel, a National Guard veteran and former football player for the North Dakota State College of Science who made headlines in 2022 for playing at the age of 49 , is facing a charge of gross sexual imposition.
According to court records, a woman has accused Ruschel of engaging in sexual activity with her while she was not fully aware of what was happening.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department reports that the incident took place in November 2024, after the two had been drinking together. The woman told investigators she fell asleep and later woke up to Ruschel removing her clothing. She said she briefly woke again to find him having sex with her and claimed she tried to resist.
If convicted, Ruschel could face a minimum sentence of five years on probation and would be required to register as a sex offender, the documents state.
