49ers Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir Arrested in LA for resisting a Peace Officer

San Francisco 49ers star cornerback Deommodore Lenoir was arrested on Thursday evening in Los Angeles on a misdemeanor charge, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The 25-year-old athlete faces a charge of resisting a peace officer after a confrontation involving Marcus Cunningham, a man who was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.
TMZ initially reported the arrest, stating that Cunningham allegedly threw his car keys to Lenoir while the two were double-parked and approached by law enforcement officers. When officers demanded the keys, Lenoir refused to surrender them, which led to his arrest for resisting a peace officer. Cunningham’s felony charge stems from the concealed firearm found in his vehicle.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Division arrested Lenoir at 5:30 p.m. and booked him at 9:40 p.m. He was later released on his own recognizance at 1:18 a.m. Cunningham, however, remains in custody. Lenoir is scheduled for a court appearance in Los Angeles on July 25, just a few days after the 49ers’ veterans report for training camp on July 22.
Lenoir, selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Oregon, has emerged as one of the team’s defensive leaders. After starting two games as a rookie, he has become a key figure in the 49ers’ secondary.
