Carson Fehlhafer: A Rising Defensive Force Scouts Need to Watch

Carson Fehlhafer, a powerful and well-accomplished defensive tackle for Concordia University–Nebraska, is quickly emerging as a must-watch prospect for scouts. A key anchor on the Bulldogs’ defensive front, Fehlhafer blends brute strength with high football IQ, consistently earning accolades for his performance on and off the field. His breakout game against No. 2-ranked Northwestern — highlighted by three sacks and eight tackles — solidified his reputation as a game-changing presence in high-stakes situations.

Fehlhafer’s athletic résumé only adds to his intrigue. A multi-sport standout at Centennial High School (Utica, Nebraska), he lettered in football, wrestling, and track & field. In track, he was a four-year competitor and a two-time conference and district champion in discus, also claiming a district title in shot put and finishing fifth at state in discus. His throwing prowess has translated well to college, where he continues to contribute to Concordia’s track & field team, including participation at the NAIA championships.

Wrestling is another cornerstone of Fehlhafer’s athletic foundation — a sport that often translates well to line play. Over three years, he captured two conference titles, two district championships, and posted state finishes of fifth, first, and third, respectively. His mat experience gives him elite leverage, hand placement, and balance — traits that show up consistently on film.

On the gridiron, Fehlhafer was a dominant force in 2024, earning First Team All-GPAC honors. He finished the season with six sacks and helped lead the Bulldogs to an 8–2 record and a final NAIA national ranking of No. 18 — a testament to the unit’s physicality and defensive discipline, even in a year that fell just short of a tournament bid.

Standing at approximately 6’3″ and 320 pounds, Fehlhafer possesses the ideal frame for an interior defensive lineman. His powerful upper body and explosive lower half allow him to collapse the pocket and disrupt plays in the backfield with consistency. With a rare combination of size, strength, athleticism, and wrestling background, Carson Fehlhafer is certainly a name scouts should circle heading into the upcoming season.
