Austin Peay Football Mourns Tragic Death of Standout Football Player William Hardrick
Austin Peay State University is mourning the unexpected loss of senior football player William Hardrick, who passed away Tuesday night. The Limestone County coroner in Alabama identified William Hardrick as the man killed in a wreck 0n I-65 South in Limestone County on Tuesday evening.
The school released this statement:
“We are truly saddened by the passing of William Hardrick, a new member of our football program and the Austin Peay family,” said Gerald Harrison, APSU Vice President and Director of Athletics. “All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Hardrick family today. We will do everything we can to support his friends, family, and teammates during this incredibly difficult time.”
APSU head football coach Jeff Faris also shared heartfelt words: “William Hardrick was an exceptional young man, and our team is heartbroken by his loss. He made everyone around him better and had a real impact both on and off the field. We lift up the Hardrick family in prayer as we grieve this tragic loss together.”
Hardrick, originally from Adamsville, Alabama, previously attended Mississippi State and Miami University before transferring to Austin Peay. He was recognized as a leader with strong character, both as an athlete and as a teammate.
The university community is rallying around Hardrick’s family and teammates as they cope with this profound loss.
