Drew Allar (QB Penn State)

Film Grade: 89 (Late 1st/ Early 2nd)

There was a lot of speculation about Drew Allar being part of the 2025 NFL Draft class, but ultimately, he decided to return to Penn State for the 2025-2026 season. He will enter his third year as a starter for the Nittany Lions, who many believe are national championship contenders. Last season, Allar finished with 30 total touchdowns (24 passing/6 rushing), 8 interceptions, 3,327 passing yards, and a 66.5 completion rate. With high expectations and an extremely competitive Big Ten conference, Allar has the chance to propel himself into the top 10 draft picks in next year’s class. Teams will be drawn to his elite arm strength, ability to process pre-snap, and big frame. Few quarterbacks in this class, if any, possess the pure throwing talent of Drew Allar. If he can improve the consistency of his footwork and limit the negative plays, he will cement his status as a premier prospect heading into the 2026 NFL Draft.

Positives:

  • Great size
  • Elite arm strength
  • Ability to fit the ball in tight windows
  • Athletic enough to extend plays
  • Effortless deep balls
  • Can generate power from any arm/body position
  • Great processor pre-snap
  • Has the natural talent to make any throw
  • Has showcased the ability to have good touch on all three levels (short, intermediate, deep)
  • 49 TDS to 10 INTS in two seasons as a starter

Negatives:

  • Accuracy needs to be more consistent
  • Struggles against elite competition
  • Too many negative plays
  • Inconsistent footwork
  • Occasionally keeps his eyes on the first read for too long
  • Not a true threat as a runner

Final Thoughts

There was plenty of debate on Drew Allar’s decision to return to Penn State for another year. Ultimately, I believe it was the best decision for both him and the team. He has all the raw talent and traits to compete for the top quarterback spot in the class. With another season of high-level play and development, his draft stock could rise into the early-to-mid first round range. Allar has the opportunity to compete against some of the elite programs in the country and show teams he can perform on the biggest stage. Quarterback-needy teams will closely monitor Drew Allar’s performance next season.
