Former Pro Bowl QB Derek Carr Retires | Leaving the Saints in a pickle
Derek Carr, former pro bowl QB for the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, has announced his retirement. This comes after a slew of injuries, primarily an unexpected shoulder injury from March.
The Saints likely saw this coming, which explains their selection of Louisville QB Tyler Shough in round 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft. The shoulder injury may be worse than originally let on by the club.
Carr has been a very solid starter for many years in the league. He is known as a great locker room guy who is always there for his teammates. Though he had a less than ideal run as the New Orleans starter, this announcement was unexpected.
The 34 year old QB has officially retired from the NFL with 4 pro bowl selections, 257 passing touchdowns and over 41 thousand pass yards in his career. He was also top 3 in voting for the NFL’s MVP award in 2016. Best of luck to Derek Carr and his family in their future endeavors.
Will the Saints struggle? They have drafted a quarterback three years in a row, and the three quarterbacks on their roster are Tyler Shough, Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler.
