2026 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Mark Cannon, CB, Illinois State
- Name: Mark Cannon Jr.
- Position: CB
- College: Illinois State
- Height: 6’3
- Weight: 205 lbs.
Who is the NFL player you compare yourself the most to? Why is that?
If I had to compare myself to an NFL corner I would compare myself to Jalen Ramsey we have similar size and we play great press man and are physical in the run game
What aspects of playing in the NFL do you find to be intriguing?
There’s nothing too specific I’m intrigued by in the NFL, the only thing I would say is wanting to learn NFL play calls and defenses
In what ways have you improved since last season?
I have improved from last season in many ways both mental and physical. I’ve gotten stronger in the offseason and became a real student of the game by understanding formations and offensive tendencies. I also improved my blitzing from off the edge, we didn’t do it a whole lot but when we did it worked to perfection.
What is your favorite memory so far as a college football player?
My favorite memory so far is the feeling I had after we on our first playoff game this past year. It was my first time in the playoffs and the feeling of winning in it was amazing, it made me want more.
What is the most important thing you would like NFL scouts, coaches and general managers to know about you?
The most important thing all coaches and GM’s should know about me is I will be the smartest guy in the room and that’s at either safety, nickel, or corner. I can play multiple positions and make plays anywhere on the field that’s needed. I want GM’s to look at me and not just see a corner but a guy that can play wherever and make plays consistently.
