How to Securely Recover Your Social Media Profile

For many people today, social media is an integral part of not only their daily lives, but also their professional lives. Communication, entertainment content, shopping, finding new friends and partners, keeping in touch with family – it would be quite difficult to do these and many other things without social media today. However, any activity in this sphere involves privacy, its protection or breach. Loss of control over the account, an attempt to restore the deleted onlyfans lookup, the need to restore safe entry to your page are all the common phenomena.

When hacking is done intentionally, the hacker (company or individual) starts impersonating the owner, gets access to personal data, correspondence, which contains not only personal information, photos, audio, video and other content, but also work addresses, places of residence, children’s studies, payment information, passwords and much more. We often do not think about what we leave at risk, and rely only on the fact that our account will not be hacked, on the reliability of the password, mail, phone number, two-step authentication.

How to realize that you have been hacked

In this case, the owner receives a message about strange actions on the page, attempts to log in from new devices or ip addresses. In addition, your friends, acquaintances, subscribers can report that unusual mailings, explicit or veiled spam are being sent from this page.

If you notice suspicious behavior, first of all, check whether you can access your page as an administrator, i.e. using your login and password. If you have this information saved on your devices, it’s worth logging out of your account and logging in again. The next steps should be:

  1. Replacing the password with a unique one that is not repeated between accounts. It should be at least 16 characters long. It is better if it is randomly generated using special characters, upper- and lower-case letters, and numbers.
  2. Enabling multi-step authentication, which will create a new level of security for entering the page.
  3. Reporting the breach or hack to the platform itself, that is, to the administration or technical support of the social network.
  4. If the password that stood on the hacked page is used somewhere else, replace it.

In addition, it is recommended to change the password from the mail, which is tied to your page, to the same complex, but completely different.

If it was possible to log in and perform the above actions, study what exactly has happened in your account recently and if necessary:

  • delete all published posts, messages and other materials that were not posted by you personally;
  • check the security and privacy settings of the page, email, phone to which the account is attached;
  • look at the devices from which you logged in, and deny access to those that are unknown to you.

If it is necessary to contact law enforcement agencies, before committing the described actions, record them on video or take screenshots. Such materials will be evidence and proof in the investigation process. After solving the problem, it is recommended to regularly check the security of the page and change passwords at least once a month, if such an incident has already been noticed.

If you have accurately determined that you have been hacked, let your subscribers and those you communicate with know about it. There is no shame in this, as people realize that no one is protected from such unpleasantness today. Apologize for your actions and continuing to maintain an old page, where you invested time and effort, is much better than keeping silent and losing your reputation.
