What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
Just growing up looking at my older cousins and brother. My brother is 4 years older than me and seeing him play was what really got me into football.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
Being able to be on the field at the same time at UTSA with my brother on defense.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
Get picked up by an NFL team and keep striving to get better everyday.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
Sean Taylor, watching him play he made the game look different from a defensive perspective compared to everyone else.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My older brother, watching him I always respected him and wanted to follow his path in everything I’m in.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
Probably 3-4, it allows you to play in the box and in coverage and be free as a nickel.
What should we know about Donyai Taylor the person?
I’m a fun, energetic, charismatic person, I like to see others do well, I’m a family person, like fishing and enjoying spending quality time with my family.
What stands out about your film the most?
Just being relentless, and eager to get to the ball and I’m a very passionate player.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I take it one step at a time, process everything and take on challenges as they come.
What would a team get in a player like you?
1. A locked in, focused passionate player and person.
2.A winner, I’ve never had a losing season.
3. A hardworker willing to get better everyday.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
It’s one of the things outside of life that resembles life. You get a tough assignment, get knocked down, have bad performances. Even though it’s only four quarters you get out what you put in just like life.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
My older brother, people second guess him because of his size but you see the passion and energy he plays with despite that and it’s inspiring.
