Pro Football Hall of Fame Denies Entry to Controversial Chiefs Player Who Killed His Wife then Himself

Jim Tyrer was one of the best football players in the NFL back in the day for the Kansas City Chiefs. He had one of the biggest heads, where the NFL needed to customize his helmet to fit.
Tyrer while known for his ability to crush his opponents in the NFL, he is also known as the first player who many believe suffered from CTE.
Tyrer who was regarded as one of the most dominant football players of his era would go on to become a 9 time Pro Bowl selection and a 6 time All-Pro. The 6’6, 320 pounder was a gentle giant.
He was up for the Pro Football Hall of Famer earlier this year and it was the first time of his career. He did not get the selection though. The reason maybe because in 1980, Tyrer shot and killed his wife Martha, before turning the gun on himself.
Tyrer is considered the first person to actually suffer from CTE. It’s a progressive disease that develops after repeated head injuries, like those sustained while playing football.
Do you think Tyrer deserved to be elected into the Hall of Fame? Or will his actions off the field haunt him forever?
