15-Year-Old Mississippi High School Football Player Dies after Medical Emergency

Shermarion Miner, a Sophomore standout offensive lineman has died after a medical emergency.
Officials reported that the student collapsed at the Gautier High School fieldhouse around 3:40 p.m., just before the end of the school day. Coaches immediately began performing CPR, and 911 was called for assistance.
Police and fire units arrived at the scene, and the student was transported by an Acadian ambulance to Ocean Springs Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, the student ultimately passed away.
Miner was taken by ambulance to Ocean Springs Hospital, where he died at 4:57 p.m., Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr. said.
Chief Bever states “no foul play is suspected” and confirms the situation “appears to be a medical incident.”
Miner loved football and video games and was a big fan of LSU, where he planned to attend college and earn a degree in engineering.
