What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

My dad came home one day with a pair of football cleats and said put them on so you can go to practice and ever since then I’ve always been passionate about sports. Football stood out because the level of physicality needed to play the game, it is not for the weak.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moments include winning close games with my teams, especially overtime victories like the one we had against Henderson State University in 2022.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

Just to remain humble and hungry, I want to continue to build my skill and IQ so that I can help my future team succeed. Ultimately, I hope to reach the professional level and inspire others through my journey from D2 to NFL.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

I’d love to hang out with Ray Lewis because of his passion for the game, I’ve been looking up to him since I was a little kid. His ability to inspire those around him and dominate on the field is something I deeply admire.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

Giving credit to both parents, they inspire me the most. Their constant support has shown me the importance of perseverance and staying grounded, no matter the challenges.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

I love the 4-3 scheme. It allows for strong run defense while also creating opportunities for creative blitz packages and coverage adjustments.

What should we know about Josiah Johnson the person?

I’m dedicated, very hardworking, goal-oriented, and I value relationships. Off the field, I’m someone who enjoys quality time giving back to the community and constantly finding ways to grow as a person.

What stands out about your film the most?

My physicality, consistency, and football game speed and IQ. I read plays very well and pretty much know where the ball is at all times on the field. My hustle shows every time you turn the film on no matter what play you choose.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I focus on controlling what I can and give the rest to God literally.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team would get a competitor, a leader by example, someone who puts the team’s success first. I bring a hard working mentality to every aspect of the game.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

The brotherhood and the way football pushes you to your limits. It’s a sport that requires mental and physical toughness, and there’s no better feeling than achieving success as a team and as an individual don’t get me wrong.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

One of my teammates, Connor Flannigan. I hate he got injured because he’s definitely a dude that I can see being a problem at the next level. His accolades do not match up to his contribution and game play for the team, he’s a great leader that make everyone around them better on and off of the field.
