What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
Actually, was a soccer and basketball player first but my dad was a coach, and I loved watching the practices and have been playing since I was 10.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
First career pick six in college, first play of the game at homecoming and celebrating with my linebackers it was an unreal moment.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
Develop into a really good player in the NFL whether my role is special teams or defense and a leader or role player. I’m excited to see what I become.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
Ray Lewis or Fred Warner, Lewis because of the intensity and knowledge of the game and Fred Warner because of his knowledge of the game and how he carries himself off the field, he’s been in the league awhile so he can give me some pointers.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mom, she’s been with me through thick and thin and every year I played football she was there, and she saw all my games in college, and she inspires me to be the football player and man I am today.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
3-4, what I ran all my college career, even a lot of disguises, we had to drop linebacker back or a LB come forward and I could play in a 4 down as well but 3-4 is what we ran at Martin.
What should we know about Tevin Shipp the person?
A hard worker, leader. I’m someone people can look up to, I’m disciplined, and I love being able to connect deeper with people, enjoy hanging out with family and friends and I lean on God and if someone needs help, I’m always someone people can call.
What stands out about your film the most?
How versatile I am, most people see my height and think I’m a pass coverage linebacker but I’m fast and physical and I surprise people on the field, and I have a high IQ of down and distance and scheme.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Always take it one step at a time, I came from a walk on to a scholarship player to all conference. Eventually the rain will clear if you just go to work, and there is no challenge God can’t get me through.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A fast, physical, gritty player. Not some superstar who thinks he’s better than the team, I’m going to go out there and want to win as a team and someone who just wants to go out there and win the game. It doesn’t matter playing time or my role if I get one play I’ll do my best job that one play.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
Just watching and developing relationships with my teammates and watching them accomplish their dreams and push them harder and there’s nothing like going to battle with your teammates during games.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Carson Evans, He never received all conference and forfeited his last year of eligibility, but he was a playmaker and a role model for what everyone should be on the field.
