What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I’ve always wanted to be a football player since the day I first started, at just 5 years old. I really enjoyed playing the sport as well watching it with my family.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My favorite moments from my football life is both conference championships that I won during my time at NIU (2018 and 2022). Another moment was when I earned my scholarship there as well.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
Showcase my skills in front of scouts, GMs, and coaches all over the nation/world. I believe that I have what it takes to play professionally, And I would love to achieve that goal.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
Jalen Ramsey. The knowledge he has for the game will make me a better safety/nickel player.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My father. He sacrificed so much for our family to make it this far. He is the reason I started playing football and was my first coach! Would love to make it for my father, he taught me everything that I know.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
My favorite defensive scheme is the nickel 3-3 and any other scheme that uses an extra safety or nickel to play that “star” position. The versatility of that position can allow coaches to call many different plays off of different alignments as well. You can play man and zone coverage, blitz, and be apart of the run fit as well.
What should we know about Joshua Earl the person?
I am a very hardworking and self determined player. I started off as a walk on at NIU, battle through many forms of adversity, as well as made many memories. My lifelong goal was to play professional football and if I was to get that opportunity, I will cherish it for a lifetime.
What stands out about your film the most?
My size. 6’ 2” 215 pound db. Very physical and can play man coverage from any alignment. I’m also fast which gives me the ability to play man coverage on WR’s, slots, RB’s and TE’s.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I like to handle challenges by locking in and working harder. This gives me the ability to find the reasons why I’m experiencing this adversity and eliminate it.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A player who loves the game of football. Who will stick to the process no matter the outcome, extremely hard working and determined individual who will be a great teammate on and off the field.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
The brotherhood. No sport out there requires 11 people to do their job every play to find success.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
My younger brother Julius Earl. Very skilled LB out of La Valley in CA. Would love to get an opportunity to play with him again in the future if possible.
