What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
From an early age, I recognized the unique abilities that I was blessed with, gifts that set me apart from my peers. My passion for the game of football has been a constant in my life since I was just five years old. I am determined to leverage these God-given talents not only to pursue my dreams but also to provide for my family. Football is more than just a game to me; it’s an integral part of who I am, and I am committed to making the most of any opportunity.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
The 60-yard pick-six vs Huntington College a team that before this year I haven’t beat just making a big-time play in a game like that is something I’ll always remember.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
My goal is to be on an NFL roster and show guys no matter where you go if you can ball they will find you and inspire the kids from back home to always keep faith in God and chase your dreams.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
Troy Polamalu and Russell Wilson are two of my all-time favorite players, both electrifying on the field and men of faith off the field.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My father and mother for sure both dealt with difficult times and a lot of ups and downs, financial hardships and they both have shown me that anything is possible throughout my journey and stuff wasn’t going as I planned they always told me to keep chasing my dream making sacrifices to give me the chance to do what I love.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
So just say if it’s 3rd down I wanna be in nickel package cover 0 in the back end send both backers and peal my end off any routes out the backfield and the reason for that being a DB you know we are sending more than they can block so the ball is coming out HOT so you really have to be technically sound and be ready to make a play on the ball.
What should we know about James Woods the person?
That I’m a God-fearing man I believe He puts you in certain places and certain situations to truly understand who you are. We should not seek happy anywhere else but in the Name of Jesus. HE WILL BRING AND REMOVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN YOUR LIFE.
What stands out about your film the most?
I would say my ability to tackle and versatility being able to play multiple positions on defense.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Just keep my faith in God and trust the supporting cast I have around me.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A player that will not only be an impact player on defense who can play multiple positions but an elite gunner and I’ll impact games like I have throughout college on special teams.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
I love the physicality part of the game even though the game is changing and they don’t allow us to hit like we used to.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
A wide receiver named Cooper Hogan gave me the most problems just cause of his all-around skill set he was a great wideout but he was a guy who loved doing the dirty work. He reminds me a lot of Julian Edelman because he will put his nose in there and block, could run every route in the book and has the best hands I’ve seen to make those tough catches regardless of how tight the coverage is.
