Georgia Bulldogs walk-on running back Gleaton Jones is dead after a fatal car crash
We are deeply saddened to share that former UGA walk-on running back Gleaton Jones has passed away in an ICU after a fatal car crash.
Gleaton was an all-state football player at Deerfield- Windsor School and 2021 CFB National Champion.
Jones, a former walk-on running back, was part of the Bulldogs’ historic 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship team. He ended up in the intensive care unit at a Florida hospital after a car crash last week during a hunting trip on St. Georga Island.
Jones suffered a severe brain injury and underwent emergency surgery, but was taken off life support on Friday morning and passed away a short time later.
A memorial service for the 21-year-old will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, at Wynfield Plantation.
Prayers and condolences to his family.
