Justice has finally been served for Du’Vonta Lampkin. The former Oklahoma Sooners defensive lineman was shot and killed in Dallas of 2022.

This week a jury found a man guilty of capital murder for the shooting of Lampkin.

Antwan Franklin was sentenced to LIFE in prison for the killing. He is one of three suspects who were at the scene when Lampkin was killed.

Of the two other suspects in the case, Erick Garcia has not yet gone to trial for his alleged role, while a third suspect was found not guilty.

Prosecutors used tweets from Franklin to prove that he worked with Garcia to rob and kill Lampkin. I am glad that Lampkin’s family can get some relief. This is a horrible crime.

Lampkin was a former NFL player and start at Oklahoma. He reportedly owed some money to Garcia, and the men thought he had upwards to 20,000 in cash on him at the AirBNB he was staying at, but that was not the case.
