Standout Missouri High School Football Player Killed in Tragic Car Accident

Tragedy struck Archie High School as the community mourns the loss of senior Miles Humbird, a beloved football player who tragically passed away in a car accident just hours after helping his team secure their second consecutive 8-man football state championship on Saturday.

According to the crash report, the accident occurred on Route B when a 17-year-old student, driving the car, crossed the center line for reasons still unknown. The vehicle veered off the road, flipped, and ejected two of the three passengers who were not wearing seatbelts.

Miles Humbird was rushed to Cass Regional Medical Center, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries approximately an hour after the crash. The 17-year-old driver remains in critical condition after being airlifted to Children’s Mercy, while the third passenger, an 18-year-old who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered only minor injuries and is recovering at home.

It is with deep sorrow that Archie R-V School District confirms the tragic passing of Miles Humbird, a senior student at our school. Miles died on Saturday evening, December 7, leaving the entire Archie community heartbroken.
