What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
It honestly was my brother Colby I was a hooper at first all the way up until 10th grade then he influenced me to give football a try since it has more rounds than the NBA to get drafted. And overtime I fell in love with the game.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
They would have to be back in when we played Garden-dale high school and I went off on them for 150+ with a touchdown and the game I scored my first college touchdown last year against St. Thomas I caught a 1 handed fade route on one of our conference’s better DB’s and then scored on a mesh route that same drive. And also the brothers I met along my football journey.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I’m looking to continue developing my skills, both physically and mentally, to become the best player I can be. I also want to play a key role in helping my team succeed, whether that’s winning a championship or even a winning season. Ultimately I hope to use my experiences and story to inspire others in a similar situation of being, underrated and looked over, that if you keep God first, stay out the way, and put the work in everything’s going to work itself out.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
One player I would hang out with would be AJ Brown. I say him because I feel as though we have a similar play style being a big body receiver that can get in and out of breaks. It be dope to learn some gems from him. It’s also inspirational that we share the same pastor, Pastor Mike Jr.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My brother Colby for sure he’s the reason I even picked up a football. Despite everything he’s been through he always find a way to come out on top and motivate others around him. He believed in me before I even believed in myself and is always pushing me to get better. He’s a huge part in why I have the work ethic I have now. Of course my mom and dad contributed too.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
Favorite offensive scheme would have to be a spread offense. I feel like a spread offense with a good quarterback and running back to keep the offense honest is hard to stop. Plus me being a receiver I’m confident that when the ball is in the air I can make a play on it.
What should we know about Caleb Tillman the person?
I’m a God fearing, family oriented, dedicated young man from Birmingham, Alabama. I know the power of prayer and hard work. My parents always taught me if you want something in life go get ain’t nothing given and that’s the motto I follow. I like to live in the moment as well and be where my feet are. I’m grateful for everything in life but still hungry for more.
What stands out about your film the most?
I feel like my separation from my route running and catching stands out the most.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Whenever I’m faced with a challenge I like to assess the situation, pray on it, give it my best shot and trust that God is going to do the rest.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would get a hardworking, dedicated, coachable, high IQ player if they were to get a player like me. Also a player that’s gone do whatever the team needs to win.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
I love the fact about the game that you get out what you put in.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Most underrated player I played with would have to be my brother Colby Tillman and Naythan Mulugeta. Both of them had good size for their positions and moved well but were just never given the chance to show what they can do in the spotlight.
