Former Detroit Lions football player was arrested for his involvement in January 6th Capitol protests
Former Detroit Lions football player Antwione Williams was arrested today for his involvement with the January 6th, US capitol incident.
He faces felony counts for assault, resisting, impeding officers, & obstruction of law enforcement.
He was charged on 7 November, in what is reportedly the first Capitol riot-related case filed since Donald Trump won the presidential election.
Williams was a linebacker for the Lions who was a star at Georgia Southern University. He was drafted by the Lions and played one year before getting cut.
According to court documents, Mr. Williams, 31, was seen on videos from the Capitol riot, where thousands of pro-Trump activists broke into the building after his 2020 election loss, pulling on barricades and hitting a police officer on the head, and struggling with other officers.
The FBI reportedly identified him using a unique red key fob, as shown below.
