Three Rookie Quarterbacks continue to play at a high level
In the 2024 NFL season, three rookie quarterbacks have captured the attention of fans, analysts, and coaches alike with their remarkable performances on the field.
These young athletes, fresh out of college, are not just adjusting to the professional game—they’re excelling at the highest level. Despite the usual challenges that come with the transition from college football to the NFL, they’ve displayed poise, leadership, and a deep understanding of the game. Their ability to command their teams, make clutch plays, and put up impressive numbers has set them apart from the typical rookie class.
Whether it’s their accuracy, decision-making, or mobility, each quarterback brings something unique to the table, fueling the excitement around what they could achieve in the league for years to come. Let’s dive into the breakout performances of these rising stars and what makes their debut seasons so special.
Between Washington’s Jayden Daniels (four wins), Denver’s Bo Nix (three), and Chicago’s Caleb Williams (three), rookie quarterbacks have combined for 10 wins this season, the second-most by rookie quarterbacks in the first five weeks of a season since 1970, trailing only 1987 (12 wins).
Daniels is the third rookie quarterback since 1950 to start and win four of his team’s first five games of a season, joining Joe Ferguson (1973 with Buffalo) and Dak Prescott (2016 with Dallas).
Williams is the fourth rookie quarterback since 1950 to win each of his first three home starts and throw no interceptions in each game, joining Matt Ryan (2008), Tua Tagovailoa (2020) and Russell Wilson(2012).
