Three Killed, Eight Injured in Mississippi Shooting at Post-Football Victory Party
Two 19-year-olds and a 25-year-old were killed with eight others being injured by gunfire on early Saturday morning in Mississippi.
The three victims were identified as: Martel Gibson, 25, of Durant; Shundra Chestnut, 19, of Kosciusko; and John Jenkins, 19, of Durant.
According to police reports, there was a party to celebrate a local high school’s victory during homecoming that ended in a crime scene.
The shooting occurred on Highway 17 North outside the city of Lexington in Holmes County
Between 200 and 300 people were in attendance at the party which followed a homecoming football game by Holmes County.
Events held at the field had security, which had previously led to weapons being confiscated, but this time they got through.
