Tristan Schaar’s Jaguars vs. Browns Week 2 Preview
Football is returning to DUUVAL as the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) host the Cleveland Browns (0-1) in a rematch of last season’s Week 14 matchup where the Browns came out on top in a narrow 31-27 victory at Huntington Bank Field.
However, this year’s game will consist of a Clemson University quarterback duel between Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson which fans were snubbed of last year due to a Watson season-ending injury earlier on in the 2023 campaign.
Injuries have been the main focus coming into today for both of these teams.
Jacksonville looks to be without two important players in the secondary Tyson Campbell (CB) and Darnell Savage (DB) which they are already thin at.
Cleveland will also be without a few key players: David Njoku (TE), Jedrick Wills (OT), and the team leader in tackles Juan Thornhill (DB) who was just placed on the injured reserve list.
Both teams head into Sunday’s game looking to bounce back with a win after suffering frustrating losses.
The Jaguars blew a 17-7 lead to the Miami Dolphins after an offensive meltdown in the second half, losing all momentum, which ultimately led to a 20-17 loss.
At the same time, the Browns couldn’t seem to get anything going from both sides of the ball as soon as the opening kickoff, getting blown out by the Dallas Cowboys 33-17.
Prediction:
Getting to Deshaun Watson will be extremely important. Watson was sacked 6 times last weekend and was forced to endlessly exit the pocket leading to two interceptions. Jacksonville’s defensive line must force Watson to make multiple errors.
Depending on if the weather holds up this afternoon, the Jaguars will need to get the passing game going if they want to come out victorious.
Lawrence looked phenomenal in the first half of the game last weekend keeping mistakes to a minimum and extending drives. However, Jacksonville steered clear of the passing game in the second half which ultimately cost them the contest.
“The Bank” will be rocking in the Jaguars’ favor today and will be a major factor in the team securing their first win of the season.
Score Prediction:
Jaguars: 20
Browns: 10
